Guerrero doping ban stands after latest appeal rejected

Peru and Internacional striker Paolo Guerrero has seen his latest appeal against a drugs ban rejected by the Swiss Federal Tribunal (BGER).

The BGER confirmed the decision on Monday, meaning Guerrero s ban will stand and he will not be available to play until April 2019.

Guerrero was banned for one year by FIFA after he tested positive for benzoylecgonine, a metabolite of cocaine, after Peru s World Cup qualifier against Argentina in October 2017.

An appeal initially saw the suspension cut in half but the World Anti-Doping Agency successfully argued to the Court of Arbitration for Sport that the ban was insufficient and it was extended to 14 months.

However, Guerrero was cleared to captain Peru at the 2018 World Cup after a temporary lifting of his ban wa…

Guardiola wants mission accomplished in Dortmund after Copenhagen stalemate

Pep Guardiola turned his attention to winning Champions League Group G when Manchester City face Borussia Dortmund after a goalless draw at Copenhagen.

Sergio Gomez was sent off for a professional foul on Hakon Haraldsson after Riyad Mahrez had a penalty saved by Kamil Grabara in an eventful first half as City s six-match winning run came to an end.

Rodri s rasping long-range strike was disallowed for a Mahrez handball before the Algeria winger failed to convert his spot-kick.

Despite failing to maintain their 100 per cent record, the Premier League champions are nevertheless through to the round of 16 after Sevilla failed to beat Borussia Dortmund later on Wednesday.

Guardiola, who kept Erling Haaland on the bench, was impressed with the way City coped w…

Spurs will back Mourinho in the transfer market

Tottenham Hotspur parted ways with Mauricio Pochettino on Tuesday, and this morning (Wednesday) they confirmed the appointment of Jose Mourinho as head coach.

Much has been said about club chairman Daniel Levy being tight with money, especially as they didn t sign any players between January 2018 and the summer of 2019, though they did pay a lot of money for Tanguy Ndombele and Giovani Lo Celso a few months ago. They also completed and moved into their brand new stadium in that time.

However, Sky Sports believe that one of the conditions Mourinho set for the club was that he should be well backed in the transfer market, and he has their promise on that for the next two windows. However, they aren t expected to be overly active in January, because the Portuguese coach fe…

New Tencent MMO Tarisland Is Already Being Called A WoW Clone By Fans

Chinese gaming giant Tencent recently unveiled its new MMORPG Tarisland, and it wasn’t long before fans noticed it bears more than a passing resemblance to Blizzard’s own World of Warcraft.

Like WoW, Tarisland looks to be a fantasy MMO with an exaggerated, more cartoonish art style. There are paladins, mages, dragons, elves with an affinity for the color purple that live in a giant tree, and more. That, of course, wouldn’t be enough to justify the clone label, but taking a closer look reveals that many of the game’s characters and environments look to have borrowed liberally from WoW. The designs of the game’s elementals, dragons, airships, and even some of the game’s playable classes and races, in particular, all appear to be heavily inspired by Blizzard’s signature sty…

Messi stays at Barcelona: The interview in full

Lionel Messi is staying with Barcelona for the time being, confirming his U-turn in a gripping and emotional interview with Goal Spain.

Published on Friday, the interview was wide-ranging but entirely pinned on the recent furore, which began on August 25 when he informed Barca of his desire to leave.

At the time Messi was under the impression he could unilaterally terminate his contract at the end of the 2019-20 season, but Barca claimed the clause had expired in June and LaLiga backed the club up.

With Manchester City circling, Messi s father and agent, Jorge, travelled to Barcelona on Wednesday in an attempt to find a compromise, but seemingly there was none to be found.

As Barca insisted the only way Messi could leave was through the payment of his €…
