Emery unsure on Arsenal´s title chances

Arsenal boss Unai Emery cast doubt on the Gunners mounting a challenge for the Premier League title, despite seeing his side thrash Fulham 5-1 at Craven Cottage.

Doubles from Alexandre Lacazette and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang – either side of Aaron Ramsey s stunning goal – saw Arsenal cruise to a ninth successive win in all competitions on Sunday.

The victory moved Arsenal into the top four, but Emery insisted that his team must continue to prove their winning mentality in the coming fixtures.

When we lost the first two matches against Manchester City and Chelsea, we were calm, Emery told a news conference when asked to comment on Arsenal s title chances.

When we are winning now I think we need to be in the same way in our mentality. We are going…

Mourinho will inspire Tottenham players, claims Lampard

Frank Lampard has credited Jose Mourinho as the manager who made him believe in himself, adding the former Chelsea boss can inspire Tottenham s players to become winners.

Mourinho was appointed as Spurs manager on Wednesday, 11 hours after the club announced the departure of Mauricio Pochettino following a dismal start to the Premier League season.

Lampard played under Mourinho across two separate spells at Chelsea, winning the Premier League in back-to-back campaigns between 2004 and 2006.

Asked what Mourinho will bring to Tottenham s dressing room, Chelsea head coach Lampard cited the Portuguese s ability to instill self-belief in his squads, which he feels will be key to transforming Spurs fortunes.

What Jose did when he came to the club was give me…

Cavani plays down Napoli return

Paris Saint-Germain s Edinson Cavani has directly played down rumours linking him with a return to Napoli.

The 31-year-old spent three seasons, from 2010 to 2013, in Naples, and the Italian side enjoyed stellar performances from him as he scored a total of 104 goals in 138 appearances for them in that time. However, he has now been a PSG player for over five years and despite stories of a rift with Brazilian star Neymar, he doesn t seem to be contemplating departure just yet.

Recently, reports emerged about his potential return to the San Paolo Stadium, but as reported by Sky Sports, the striker has dismissed them when asked about it on international duty, by apparently telling the journalists present that they talk too much. He did, though, say that he loved the people…

Man Utd & Madrid target Van de Beek rules out Ajax exit

Ajax star Donny van de Beek ruled out a January transfer amid growing links to Manchester United and Real Madrid.

Van de Beek has reportedly emerged as a target for United, who are desperate for midfield reinforcements following injuries to Paul Pogba and Scott McTominay.

LaLiga giants Madrid have previously contacted Ajax over a possible deal, though a transfer did not materialise at the start of the season.

Despite interest, Netherlands international Van de Beek has no plans to leave Eredivisie champions Ajax.

Schmeichel to leave Leicester?

Kasper Schmeichel could be looking to leave Leicester City due to not being happy with manager Claude Puel.

Speaking to BeIN Sports, Kasper s father, legendary Manchester United and Denmark goalkeeper Peter Schmeichel indicated he didn t believe Puel is the right man for the job. He believes Leicester are a good club with good players, but with a manager who doesn t know how to get the best out of them.

World Cup favourites Spain haven´t won anything yet, says Ramos

Sergio Ramos is wary of suggestions Spain are among the favourites to win the World Cup after thrashing Argentina 6-1 in a friendly on Tuesday.

Isco s hat-trick, together with goals from Diego Costa, Thiago Alcantara and Iago Aspas, sealed a convincing victory at the Wanda Metropolitano, where Nicolas Otamendi netted La Albiceleste s solitary strike.

Alongside holders Germany, as well as Brazil and France, Spain are among the bookmakers leading candidates to triumph in Russia.

But Real Madrid defender Ramos, a key member of the squad that won Euro 2008, the 2010 World Cup and Euro 2012, sounded a note of caution.

We have to be calm because we haven t won anything yet, he said.

But logically it is the best way to get [to] the World Cup, with th…

Liverpool acting like a club that belongs at the top – Henderson

Liverpool s mentality this season is like that of a club that belongs at the top and challenging for major titles, according to captain Jordan Henderson.

Jurgen Klopp s men are enjoying one of their best campaigns in a generation, as they remain in the Premier League title race with three games to go and are in the Champions League semi-finals.

Even if the Reds do not end up topping the table, they will almost certainly break the record for most points won by a team finishing second in the Premier League, as they are just one away from equalling Manchester United s haul of 89 from 2011-12.

Manchester City are in the driving seat having beaten United 2-0 on Wednesday, but Liverpool look set to push them all the way.

Even if Liverpool finish as runners-up, …

Robben: It could be over for me after this season

Arjen Robben has not ruled out the possibility of retiring at the end of the season, with his Bayern Munich future uncertain as he enters the final year of his contract.

The Dutch forward has been at Bayern since 2009 and remains a key part of Jupp Heynckes squad, playing 18 times in all competitions this season.

Heynckes has praised Robben s impact on the team and recently talked up the possibility of the 33-year-old signing a new deal at the Allianz Arena, but he is yet to make a decision.

My future is uncertain, Robben told Kicker. It could be over for me after this season, I could try something new or play three more years for Bayern. Everything is possible.

I try to enjoy my football and play on a high level as long as possible, but I don t know ho…
