If the Reds are again victorious, they will face the winner of the Ulsan-Al Hilal last-eight clash.
In further good news for Adelaide, they will host the final to be played on either November 9 or 10 if they win their way through.
On the other side of the draw, big-spending Chinese Super League outfit Guangzhou Evergrande face two-time Asian champions Al Ittihad.
Marcello Lippi s Guangzhou side make the trip to Saudi Arabia for the first leg on September 19 before hosting the return leg in early October.
Awaiting the winner in the last four are either Sepahan or Al Ahli.
