Turkey bested by Uruguay in Euro 2008 warm-up

Turkey lost a Euro 2008 warm-up friendly 3-2 to Uruguay here on Sunday as Fatih Terim s Turks suffered a setback.

Terim rang the changes, fielding only four of the starters who beat Slovakia 1-0 last Tuesday in another German friendly, to see what his squad have in reserve.

Defender Servet Cetin was out injured, as was midfielder Mehmet Aurelio and their absence was keenly felt. Arda Turan opened the scoring with an early header from a cross by Hamit Altintop.

But Uruguay fought back and levelled from the spot on the half hour through Luis Suarez after he was upended by keeper Volkan Demirel.

A fine freekick from Nihat Kahveci six minutes after the restart put the Turks back in front but goals from Suarez on 78 minutes, profiting from defensive disar…

Prediction: Luton Town vs Burnley

Best odds: 21/11

Bookmaker:

Luton Town and Burnley, both relegated from the Premier League, will face off at Kenilworth Road on Monday evening as they begin their Championship campaigns.

This match marks the first time since 2009 that two teams demoted from the Premier League have opened a second-tier season against each other, with both setting their sights at returning quickly to the top flight.

Luton Town

Despite a commendable effort in their first top-flight campaign in 31 years, Luton were ultimately relegated last season, finishing 18th in the Premier League. The Hatters managed just one win in their final 17 matches, ending up six points short of safety. Even with Rob Edwards receiving praise for his work at Kenilworth Road, the team couldn t avo…

Premier League MD6: Lucky winners and unlucky losers

Manchester United were the big losers of matchday six in the Premier League.

Tottenham piled the pressure on Erik ten Hag as they cruised to a 3-0 victory at Old Trafford, where Bruno Fernandes was sent off.

Spurs generated a huge expected goals (xG) figure of 4.59 on Sunday – the third-highest United have allowed a Premier League opponent since such records began in 2009.

Only versus Arsenal in December 2017 (a 3-1 win) and against Manchester City in October 2011 (a 6-1 loss at Old Trafford), have United given up a greater quality of chances in a Premier League match, so it is fair to say Spurs were deserving victors.

But, was that the case across the board this weekend? Who were the unlucky, and lucky, teams?

Lucky winners: Everton

River Plate still 2018 Copa Libertadores champions after CAS rejects Boca Juniors´ appeal

River Plate have retained their 2018 Copa Libertadores title after arch-rivals Boca Juniors appeal to have them disqualified was turned down by the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS).

River claimed the title by defeating Boca 5-3 on aggregate after extra time in the second leg of the final in December 2018.

That match was played at the Santiago Bernabeu in Madrid after Boca s team bus was attacked en route to El Monumental for the initially scheduled return encounter.

After being shut down by South American confederation CONMEBOL, Boca appealed to CAS in an attempt to have River disqualified from the 2018 Libertadores over the behaviour of their supporters.

However, CAS declared that punishment would have been too harsh and instead ordered Marcelo Galla…

On this day in 2012: Ian Holloway named Crystal Palace manager

Ian Holloway left Blackpool to become Crystal Palace’s new manager, on this day in 2012.

Holloway signed a four-and-a-half-year contract to fill the vacant position at Selhurst Park, with the Eagles having allowed Dougie Freedman to join Bolton in October.

The move ended Holloway’s three-and-a-half-year stay with Blackpool, where he oversaw their promotion to the Premier League in 2010.

Holloway was unveiled to the Palace crowd at half-time of their Championship game with Blackburn.

A 2-0 win took the Eagles third in the table and Holloway was delighted with what he was seeing when he spoke to the crowd.

“How lucky are we to see a team like this? It’s fantastic,” he said. “I think I have got goosebumps on the back of my neck to get an …

Chargers vs Eagles Week 9 Picks and Predictions: Eagles Won't be an Easy Out

The Philadelphia Eagles are quickly becoming that one team I can’t win with or against, which may serve as a warning for the rest of this NFL betting breakdown. And I’m not alone.

Philadelphia opened 1-3 ATS in the first four weeks but has since gone 3-1 against the spread, including a 44-6 beatdown of the Lions last Sunday. Adding to that enigma is a puzzling pointspread for Week 9’s homestand against the Los Angeles Chargers, with Philadelphia opening as big as a 3-point underdog and slimming as low as +1.

Check out our NFL free picks and predictions for Chargers at Eagles on November 7.

Dallas Cowboys Super Bowl Odds Update: Is Dallas Doomed?

The Dallas Cowboys have gone from Super Bowl contender to long-shot seemingly overnight after an ugly Week 1 where they were shut down by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers while losing franchise quarterback Dak Prescott to a thumb injury.

Although Week 1 in the NFL can sometimes lead to overreactions from oddsmakers and the betting public, there are a few reasons why “America’s Team” has moved from +2,000 to +5,000 on the futures board at one prominent sportsbook.

With uncertainty surrounding Prescott’s long-term outlook, there is plenty of volatility in the Super Bowl odds betting market which we break down heading into NFL Week 2.

Lions vs Chiefs TNF Prop Bets: Moore and Mahomes Pick Apart Detroit

The long wait for the NFL season to return is finally over with Week 1 odds getting our blood pumping as the Detroit Lions head to Kansas City to take on the defending Super Bowl champion Chiefs on Thursday Night Football.

After going 8-2 down the stretch last year, the Lions have plenty of momentum heading into the 2023 campaign, especially with a handful of their new additions expected to make a major impact on both sides of the ball.

As for the Chiefs, they still find themselves as the TNF odds favorites, but with All-Pro Chris Jones still holding out, Patrick Mahomes & Co. will likely need to put up points to stay ahead against the surging Lions.

Find out what my best NFL picks are in the prop market for the Lions vs. Chiefs matchup …

Lamar Jackson Odds and TNF Props: Jackson Excels When the Pressure is On

The Week 11 odds give us an absolute monster of a Thursday Night Football match that features a divisional clash between two teams that are not only AFC North rivals but two of the best offenses in the NFL. The Bengals’ 5-4 record might not indicate that but let’s not forget that Joe Burrow was carrying an injury for the first quarter of the season. We’re not focused on Burrow though, here we are looking at the NFL odds for the man under center for the Ravens, Lamar Jackson.

Now let’s get stuck into the very best ways that you can use everything we know about Lamar Jackson odds to get the very best value on the Ravens’ QB for tonight’s NFL picks.
